Product Description

These beautifully designed Bluenose II half hull models, locally hand-crafted, are the creative construction of Mr. James Rhodenizer of Pleasantville, N.S.   He is a lifetime boat builder having worked on restoring schooners such as the Bluenose II, Atlantica and Tree of Life.  In 1997, Mr. Rhodenizer was recognized for his contribution to boat building and received the Silver Medal of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commence.

Half hull models were utilized by shipbuilders.   Before a keel was laid, a ship would be designed on paper and then transformed into a wooden model in half hull form, which in turn translated the ideas, measurements and contours into a tool that guided those whose skills actually built the ships.
