Lunenburg, N.S. — The Lunenburg Marine Museum Society is thrilled to announce the launch of the BLUENOSE II online store. For the first time, the products that commemorate Nova Scotia's famous sailing ambassador are available for purchase worldwide.
The online store was inspired by the overwhelming success of the on-site gift shop. Over 59,000 visitors from around the world have come to Lunenburg to witness the rebuild of Nova Scotia’s historic Bluenose II. Captain Wayne Walters had the idea to sell products online but didn't have the expertise to make it happen. Nova Scotia firm Blue Cow Creative Design & Production Ltd. was awarded the contract to build the online store.
“We are very fortunate that we are supported not only by Nova Scotians and the rest of Canada but have always enjoyed support from around the globe,” says Bluenose II Director of Operations Wayne Walters. “Now people who cannot come to Lunenburg to see the actual rebuild can still purchase an item at our online store to remember this once in a lifetime project.”
All proceeds of the online store go towards the operation and maintenance of BLUENOSE II. The store is managed by the Lunenburg Marine Museum Society, a dedicated group of volunteers who operate BLUENOSE II.
The BLUENOSE II online store is now accepting orders for original BLUENOSE II products, including t-shirts, hats, sweaters, jackets and more. Some of the clothing items available are the same as worn by the ship's crew. Orders can be shipped virtually anywhere around the globe through Canada Post.
